BANGKOK, 8 August 2014 – The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) has completed the selection of its speaker and two deputy speakers during its first meeting.
The NLA has convened its first session with the main agenda of appointing a speaker and his two deputies. As a result, a unanimous decision was made to select Advisor to the National Council for Peace and Order Pornpetch Wichitcholchai as the NLA Speaker.
At the same time, former Deputy Senate Speakers Surachai Liangboonlertchai and Peerasak Porchit were appointed the NLA First and Second Deputy Speakers respectively.
The NLA is scheduled to convene again next week to consider several important issues after the newly-appointed speaker and deputy speakers have been royally-endorsed by His Majesty the King.
