BANGKOK, 23 July 2015 – The National Legislative Assembly’s committee overseeing agricultural and cooperative affairs has visited drought-hit Phichit.
Chairman of the NLA’s agricultural and cooperative affairs committee Gen Danai Meechuwate was accompanied by his team in visiting Phichit to hear first-hand information related to drought in order for them to come up with appropriate remedies.
Gen Danai and his team paid a particular attention to the problems around the Yon River Basin, where they wish to identify solutions to help farmers who have been affected by the dry spell.
The governor of Phichit and heads of the local government offices have made a number of requests for help from the committee, including the dredging of the Yom River and the installation of more floodgates in local waterways as well as the growing of the forest.
