NARATHIWAT, Feb 14 – No soldiers were wounded in a bomb blast targeting a routine military teacher protection unit patrol the southern province of Narathiwat.
A roadside bomb exploded in Si Sakhon district as six soldiers passed by on routine duty to provide security for teachers on Thursday morning.
No one was wounded in the incident, but the 5kg explosive device triggered by a mobile phone signal left a hole two feet deep.
Meanwhile, in Ruso district, police detained three suspects for questioning and seized a pickup truck with Pattani license plate as blood stains were found on the vehicle’s door.
Police said the vehicle may have been used to help suspected insurgents wounded in an attack at a military base in Narathiwat’s Bacho district early Wednesday.
The authorities initially said one of the three suspects is a brother of Burahan Jena, 35 a Narathiwat native, who died in an extrajudicial killing last month in Si Sakhon district. (MCOT online news)
