BANGKOK, 17 Feb 2014 The National Institute of Educational Testing Service (NIETS) is confident that there were no cheating cases during the 2-day O-NET examinations held over the weekend, and that their result should be released by the end of March.
NIETS Director Sampan Panpruek stated that the February 15th – 16th O-NET examinations were attended by 431,127 students, with 103 being visually impaired.
Mr. Sampan said that there had been no reports of cheating so far, adding that the NIETS deployed 2 different versions of the exam in order to prevent cheatings.
He said NIETS authorities were urged to be extra careful in crafting the content of the exam, stressing that each answer sheet would be checked multiple times before they finalize the score. Students partaking in the examination were not allowed to take any kind of communication devices into the exam room.
The O-NET examinations for grade 8, 9 and 12 were concluded on Sunday February 16th, Mr. Sampan said, adding that the grade 12 exam results are expected to be released on March 31st.
