There was not a sign of House dissolution for an early general election but the commission was ready for any political accident, said the chairman of the Election Commission.

EC chairman Ittiporn Boonprakong said that there was not a sign of House dissolution or any early general election. However, the EC was already prepared to organize the next general election. House representatives will fulfill their term on March 23 and the next general election must be organized within 45 days afterwards.

The EC studied lessons from the 2019 general election, discussed relevant issues with provincial election officials and prepared its compliance with two amended organic laws concerning the election and constituencies.

The EC chairman stressed that the commission was ready to cope with any situation. If the House is dissolved, the next general election will be organized within 60 days, he said.

Mr Ittiporn warned politicians to comply with laws during the New Year festival. He said there were restrictions for politicians during a period of 180 days before the election and the EC already informed them of the rules. (TNA)
