BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department reports cool morning weather in the northern, northeastern, and central regions, with chilly to cold conditions on mountaintops. Southern Thailand is seeing reduced rainfall, with isolated thunderstorms expected in some areas.

A weak high-pressure system or cool air mass currently blankets upper Thailand, leading to foggy mornings but maintaining cool conditions in the north, northeast, and central areas.

On mountaintops and highlands, temperatures are cooler, ranging from chilly to cold. Authorities advise residents to maintain their health during this weather transition and to exercise caution against fire hazards caused by dry conditions. Travelers should also take care when driving through foggy areas.

The northeast monsoon over the Gulf of Thailand and the south has weakened, reducing rainfall in southern Thailand. However, isolated thunderstorms remain possible. Moderate winds over the lower Gulf of Thailand are creating waves of 1–2 meters, rising above 2 meters during thunderstorms. Mariners are advised to avoid areas with storms.

Additionally, from December 8 to 10, a new moderate high-pressure system from China is expected to cover upper Thailand and the South China Sea. This will result in a temperature drop of 2–4°C in the northeast, followed by a decrease of 1–3°C in the north, central region, Bangkok, its surrounding provinces, and the eastern region. Residents in these areas should prepare for colder weather and remain vigilant against fire hazards caused by dry and windy conditions.
