BANGKOK, 4 October 2013 National Security Council Secretary-General Pharadon Phatthanathabut on Thursday admitted that the Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) insurgent group was considering making adjustments to its representatives at the peace dialogue discussions with Thailand.

According to Lt. Gen. Pharadon, any change of the representatives will need to be confirmed by peace dialogue coordinator Malaysia; the latter is expected to make this confirmation as well as notify Thai authorities of the date for the next round of peace dialogue next week.

The NSC chief added that specialists in the fields of religion and history would also participate in the next round of talks. However, the emphasis would still be on the reduction of violence in Thailand’s southern border provinces.

Lt. Gen. Pharadon also indicated he believed the BRN still wanted to continue the peace dialogue although there were conflicting views about the peace talks within the group itself.
