BANGKOK, 30 April 2014 (NNT) – National Security Council Secretary General Thawil Pliensri says he is ready for the testimony with the Charter Court on the case of his unfair transfer on May 6th.
Regarding his recent reinstatement to the top NSC position, Mr. Thawil said he is not obligated to report to Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on the resumption of office, nor is it necessary for him to be given a job briefing by former NSC Secretary General Lt. Gen. Paradon Pattanathabutr. Mr. Thawil stressed that he does not fret over the prospect of working with the government, saying that all parties involved are professionals and that there would not be any problem for him to perform his duty with them.
The Secretary General also denied he was clinging to the title, but said his move to win the position back was to create an acceptable norm in the civil service while encouraging others in the circle to perform their jobs the best they could.
Mr. Thawil did not make a comment on the ongoing trial of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on his transfer case. However, he stated that he was ready to give his testimony to the Charter Court on May 6th.
When asked about his view on working with the Center for the Administration of Peace and Order, Mr. Thawil said his agency is not designated to the center, but adding he would give his cooperation, if his presence is being requested. He said the police would be responsible for providing security for the rallies of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship and the People’s Democratic Reform Committee while the NSC would coordinate with intelligence units.
