BANGKOK, 20 March 2011 (NNT)-Former President of Nuclear society of Thailand Mr. Preecha Kalasoot said the radiation levels in Japan are still safe to human and the environment at present.

Mr. Preecha said following the Japanese authority’s decision to raise the radiation level from 4 to 5 or from within 20 kilometers of the nuclear reactor in Fukushima to now 30 kilometers, it is still considered safe since the radiation is being blown out to the ocean in the direction of the United States and Canada.

He adds that the radiation is short lived and will eventually subside in the air. However, he further elaborates that the dangerous level would be at 7. He also states that so far no Japanese has been reported dead from having high levels of radiation in their bodies. Mr. Preecha also comments that it is unlikely that the danger alert in Japan will reach level 7.
