During this year’s Songkran festival in April, the number of air travelers at Suvarnabhumi airport doubled compared to the same period last year.
Kittipong Kittikachorn, general manager of Suvarnabhumi Airport, reported that 585,075 passengers passed through the country’s main airport between April 9 and 18, a 119 percent increase over the same period in 2021.
According to Kittipong, the airport handled an average of 45,006 passengers per day over the 10-day period, peaking at 65,327 on Sunday (17 Apr) at the conclusion of the Songkran festival. The figures included passengers flying in and out of both domestic and international airports.
