BANGKOK, 14 December 2015 – Public Health Minister Piyasakol Sakolsattayatorn said the World Health Organization (WHO)’s report in November 2015 indicated that the number of patients with influenza in most Asia countries is likely to decrease.

However, in some countries the number of patients with Type A influenza is likely to increase, including Qatar, Bahrain, India, Laos and Thailand, according to the WHO report.

Public Health Ministry undersecretary Sophon Mekthon said those with influenza symptoms including high fever and coughing and those in risk groups including pregnant women, small children, elderly people and those with chronic illnesses should immediately see a doctor.

General patients should stay at home and wear a hygienic mask in public places or while riding in a bus to prevent the disease from spreading. Besides, if the symptoms get more severe like having dyspnea, they are suggested to immediately see a doctor.
