BANGKOK– The Office of Industrial Economics (OIE) has pushed forward measures to develop robotics and automation industries in Thailand after receiving cabinet approval.
OIE Director Siriruj Chullakarat disclosed that the cabinet meeting on 29 August had approved the principle measures to pursue development in the robotics and automation industries, assigning the Ministry of Industry to be the main agency responsible for ensuring concrete results and the project’s implementation.
In 2017, the OIE has also cooperated with various institutions to develop robotic and automation industries within a budget of over 12 billion baht.
Currently, the robotics and automation industries in Thailand are in need of development to accommodate the global changes, especially in terms of production.
However, the OIE has confirmed that it will support all target groups that use the automation or robotics system, covering the agricultural, industrial and service sectors to increase their manufacturing capabilities and to develop the robotics and automation industries in unison.
