AYUTTHAYA, Sept 27 – Thailand’s floods have continued to affect local residents and animals in several provinces.
In the central province of Ayutthaya, the local Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office reported, as of this morning, six districts, 501 villages, over 25,000 households, and over 82,000 persons have been affected by floods, while 34 temples, 27 schools, one mosque, three roads, and over 4,000 rai of farmland have been damaged.
Local authorities said 300,000 sandbags were placed for flood prevention and 7,000 flood relief packages were distributed.
In the northern province of Phichit, more than 9,000 households, 251 villages in 11 districts have been impacted by floods, with the water level as high as 60cm to one metre. Over 10,000 rai of rice fields are now indundated.
Phichit Governor Jakrin Plienwong assigned the local irrigation office to release water in canals to main rivers, which can be done slowly due to local geography.
Meanwhile, in the northeastern province of Buri Ram, the Chi River has overflowed its banks, causing flooding in Krasang district for over a week and a shortage of fodder for over 1,000 cattle.
