PATTAYA, Thailand – Sirikanya Tansakul, a list MP from the People’s Party, affirmed that she would not remove former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra’s name from the upcoming no-confidence motion, despite suggestions to replace it with alternative wording. Sirikanya emphasized that the inclusion of Thaksin’s name was in full accordance with the law and constitutional guidelines, particularly Article 151.
Her statement came in response to the Speaker of the House’s remark that the opposition must remove Thaksin’s name from the motion if they wanted it to be included in the parliamentary agenda. Sirikanya made it clear that the motion would proceed regardless, and it would be discussed within the current session of parliament.
Sirikanya added that the opposition would engage in further discussions with the Speaker to clarify the legal standing of including Thaksin’s name, while ensuring the no-confidence motion takes place as scheduled. She also responded to advice from some sources suggesting alternative ways to refer to Thaksin, saying she remained firm in the belief that the actions taken were fully legal.
