Over 10,000 flood victims choose Chon Buri as shelter

CHON BURI, 28 October 2011  –A large number of flood victims have fled to Chon Buri where accommodations are easy to find and provincial authorities are ready to facilitate their visits.

Following the severe flooding situation in Bangkok, Chon Buri province has mobilized its personnel in every sector to help deliver assistance to flood-fleeing visitors. Chon Buri has opened two flood relief centers, located inside the Institute of Physical Education, Chon Buri campus and the Chon Buri Community development learning center, to be shelters for flood victims.

Many people have already evacuated to Chon Buri. Some families rent an apartment while some move to live with their relatives in popular zones such as Muang, Bang Saen and Pattaya.

As for hospital visits, there are averagely 160 out-patients seeking treatment per day. The number of people taking shelter in Chon Buri is estimated to be more than 10,000 people at present.
