Over 671,000 visit Thailand Tourism Festival 2016

BANGKOK – Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Governor Yutthasak Supasorn disclosed that last month’s Thailand Tourism Festival 2016 was visited by 671,411 people.

The number of visitors to the annual event, organized by the TAT from January 13 until January 17 at Lumpini park, accounted for a 9.5 percent increase from last year and some 309 million baht in cash was circulated.

Most of the visitors bought food and drinks which generated about 186 million baht in earnings while handicraft and community products earned about 79 million baht.

The most popular zone was the Five Regions Village which featured local products, local foods, cultural performances and an exhibition where tourism information was provided. The provinces where people would like to visit the most included Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Mae Hong Son, Krabi, Prachuab Khiri Khan, Kanchanaburi, Loei, Surat Thani, Chonburi and Phuket respectively.
