BANGKOK, Thailand – The three-party whip committee in the Thai Parliament has finalized the schedule for the government’s policy statement, which will take place on September 12-13.

The decision was made during a joint meeting of representatives from the government, opposition, and the Senate.

House Speaker Wan Muhammad Noor Matha on Monday presided over the meeting, where the committee agreed to allocate a total of 29 hours for the event. The Prime Minister and Cabinet will be given six hours to present their policy, while the opposition will have 13 hours to debate. The Senate and the governing coalition will each have 4 hours and 30 minutes.

This policy statement, as mandated by Article 162 of the Thai Constitution, provides an opportunity for the newly formed government to outline its plans and priorities. The subsequent debate will allow opposition parties to scrutinize the government’s policies and propose alternative approaches.  (TNA)
