PATHUM THANI, 3 July 2014 – Irrigation officials in Pathum Thani Province are bracing for northern run-off and possible floods coming in its wake.
Authorities at the Chulalongkorn Watergate in Thanyaburi District are installing more water pumps in anticipation of massive water volume flowing downstream to the station which is in the frontline to absorb the water before it enters the eastern part of Bangkok and is diverted into the Chao Phraya.
Irrigation officials said aside from installing additional water pumps, they have erected water barriers to prevent run-off from entering the capital as well.
A total of 24 additional water pumps are being installed at the Chulalongkorn Watergate with a combined capacity of pumping 9 million cubic meters of water per day.
The head of the Irrigation office in the province has instructed related officials to closely monitor the water level in Rangsit Canal and to provide reports to the provincial administrative body on a continuous basis.
