BANGKOK 22 January 2014  The Pathumwan rally has begun to carry out a “big cleaning day” after the government has officially announced an emergency decree.

At the Pathumwan rally site, the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) members have started its “big cleaning day.” An average of 20 tons of trash a day has reportedly been collected since the protests began. Officials at the Pathumwan rally site continue to keep a close watch, checking for weapons and explosives on those who enter the premises.

After the cleaning at Pathumwan, the PDRC will move protesters to the Office of the Higher Education Commission (OHEC) to pressure government officials there to oust the Yingluck administration.

Other rally sites including those at Ratchaprasong, Lumpini, and Ladprao sites have not begun a cleaning day. PDRC guards, however, have allowed taxis carrying the sick or injured to hospital to pass through in order to receive medical care.
