Pattani’s provincial seat has raised a red flag after widespread flooding. The situation worsens as floodwaters inundate business areas with continuous overflow from the Pattani River and Sai Buri River.
As of Dec 29, water levels have risen rapidly, flooding almost all of the roads in the Muang district, especially Nong Jik Road with water levels exceeding 50 centimeters. Shopping malls and hotels are located along this road.
The Pattani Municipality has raised a red flag at the Dechanuchit Bridge and deployed 66 water pumps strategically around the city to expedite water drainage urgently.
The municipality is preparing for anticipated rising water levels, issuing close monitoring warnings and advising residents, especially children, to avoid playing in the water due to strong currents and potential dangers.
In the Mueang district alone, flooding has affected more than 6,600 local residents. (TNA)
