Pattaya Buddhists turned out at temples throughout the area to celebrate Makha Bucha Day on Friday.
Wat Chaimongkol temple in South Pattaya was especially busy as devotees participated in religious ceremony with flowers, candles, incense and alms for monks in the morning. Similar activities were seen at many temples in Pattaya, Banglamung and nationwide.
Pattaya residents came out en-masse to light candles in celebration of Makha Bucha Day.
This holy day commemorates the occasion when 1,250 disciples traveled to meet with Lord Buddha at the Weluwan Mahawiharn Temple in the area of Rachakhryha, India.
