PATTAYA, Thailand – The Meteorological Department reports that upper Thailand is experiencing cool weather with morning fog. In the Northeast and North, temperatures are cold to chilly, with mountaintops and highlands facing very cold to freezing conditions and occasional frost. Meanwhile, southern Thailand continues to experience isolated thunderstorms.
The 24-hour forecast indicates that a moderate high-pressure system or cold air mass is covering upper Thailand and the upper South. This results in cool weather with morning fog across upper Thailand. The Northeast and North will see cold to chilly conditions, with very cold temperatures and frost in high-altitude areas. Residents are advised to protect their health in these cold conditions and be cautious of fire hazards caused by dry and windy weather.
The moderate northeast monsoon over the Gulf of Thailand and the South causes scattered thunderstorms in the lower South. Waves in the lower Gulf are approximately 2 meters high, increasing to more than 2 meters during thunderstorms. Upper Gulf waves range from 1 to 2 meters, while Andaman Sea waves are around 1 meter high, increasing to 1-2 meters offshore. Mariners are urged to navigate carefully, particularly in stormy areas.
