BANGKOK, 19 December 2013 Anti-government protesters have started their latest round of marching throughout inner Bangkok, urging more Thais to join the rally to oust the government on Thursday morning.
The march led by Suthep Thaugsuban, the leader of The People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), began at 9.10 from Ratchadamnoen avenue to Sukhumvit and return to Ratchadamnern via Rama I road.
The PDRC aims to call for Bangkokians to come out and join what many see as its last hurrah on December 22, in an attempt to force the Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to resign from her position and pave the way for the PDRC to set an agenda to reform Thai politics before the next general election.
The ruling Pheu Thai party has accused the PDRC for its attempt to derail the general election set for February 2 by using the rally as a disguise for their plan to seize the Election Commission’s office.
