BANGKOK, 11 October 2013 Leaders of the People’s Democratic Force to Overthrow Thaksinism (PEFOT) anti-government group have agreed to relocate their protest venue from Government House to Lumphini Park in Bangkok to make way for the visit by Chinese prime minister Li Keqiang.

General Pricha Iamsupan, leader of the PEFOT, agreed on Thursday to relocate the protest venue after having met with senior police officials tasked with ensuring order around the Government House.

The demonstrators will reportedly move back to the protest venues around Government House after the Chinese premiere, who will be on officials visit to Thailand during October 11-13, departs.

According to Police Major General Piya Uthayo, spokesperson for the Centre for the Administraton of Peace and Order (CAPO), the internal security law is still being enforced in the 3 districts around the Government House although the protestors have already relocated. If the situation in the 3 districts returns to normal, the CAPO will consider asking the Cabinet to lift the special law.
