NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, 17 April 2013- High ranking government officials on Tuesday afternoon attended the funeral of a bartender who was killed after trying to stop a robbery earlier this month.

Police Region 8 Commander, Police Lieutenant General Yongyuth Charoenvanit (ยงยุทธ เจริญวานิช), presided over the funeral of the 32-year-old bartender, Mr. Pichate Chukliang (พิเชษฐ์ ชูเกลี้ยง), held in Thung Yai District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Many people, notably owners of local gold shops, also attended the role model citizen’s funeral.

The bartender’s girlfriend, Sathika Charnsawad (สาธิกา ชาญสวัสดิ์), revealed that Mr. Pichate was a good man by his nature, adding that earlier in life he had already assisted in the arrests of robbers twice.

Mr. Pichate was shot and killed during a robbery at CP Gold Master and Jewelry store in the southern province of Phuket on April 8th. Phuket Police is still looking for the robber and murderer, and has already put a video on youtube showing a CCTV image of the robbery scene, together with an announcement of the 400,000-baht bounty for anybody who could lead to the arrest.
