BANGKOK, 13 June 2014 – The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) is warning people to prepare for torrential rains during the present period to June 15th.
A strong southwest monsoon covers across the Andaman Sea causes extensive rain in the North, upper part of the Northeast, the East and west coast of the South. The Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand will face strong winds and wave heights of 2-4 meters during next week.
Heavy rains are likely to hit several provinces, among them Kanchanaburi, Tak, Pitsanulok, Chiang Mai, Loei, Phuket, Krabi, Trang. Motorists should drive with caution and obey the traffic rules and laws, while people should refrain from using mobile phones during thunderstorms.
