BANGKOK, Thailand – The Embassy of Peru in Thailand is set to host Peruvian artist Lenin Tamayo for his Thailand debut with three cultural presentations in Bangkok. Tamayo, a 24-year-old singer, songwriter, and music producer, is recognized for pioneering Q’pop, a genre that blends K-pop rhythms with Quechua lyrics, representing Peru’s cultural heritage through a modern lens.

His first performance will be on October 16 at Mahidol University International College, followed by a talk show on October 17 at the Korean Cultural Center discussing “K-Pop as a Global Culture: Based on the Cases of Q’pop and T-Pop.” Tamayo will conclude his tour on October 19 with a live performance at Siam Paragon’s SCBX Next Tech.

Tamayo’s music features traditional Andean instruments, such as pan flutes and rain sticks, paired with choreographed dance moves reminiscent of K-pop performances. His debut album “Amaru,” inspired by Incan mythology, has received international recognition, with Rolling Stone naming him a visionary artist for 2024.

Lenin’s Thailand tour proves the global appeal of his fusion of Andean sounds with contemporary pop. The performances also promise a dynamic mix of music and artistic expression, offering audiences a rare glimpse into Peru’s lively traditions. (NNT)
