BANGKOK, 14 Oct 2013 Pheu Thai Party is calling a meeting of its MPs today ahead of tomorrow’s joint parliamentary session to consider an amendment bill seeking to change Section 190 of the Constitution.

The party’s spokesperson, Prompong Nopparit stated that the meeting was aimed at prepping Pheu Thai MPs for the debate on the amendment of Section 190 slated for tomorrow (Oct 15). The Section regulates the nation’s signing of memorandums of understanding with foreign countries.

He believes that the amendment would sail through the joint sitting of Parliament in the same way as the Senate Origin Revision bill did. Nonetheless, he urged Pheu Thai MPs not to make pointless objections during the debate.

Mr. Prompong estimated that the consideration of the bill should take only one day, but did not rule out a possibility for the debate to continue into Wednesday and Thursday. He also urged the party’s MPs to refrain from taking field trips to visit voters during the 3-day Parliament Session.
