BANGKOK, 14 February 2014  The government-led Pheu Thai party has accepted the idea of using a mediator to end the political crisis and stressed that talks must be held in line with laws, regulations and democracy.

Executive of Pheu Thai Noppadol Pattama said the ongoing political conflicts in Thailand were seriously affected the country. Mass rallies by the anti-government People’s Democratic Reform Committee damaged the economy especially the tourism sector since many countries warned their people against traveling to Thailand, Mr Noppadol said.

The party executive therefore called on all sides to find solutions to the political standoff as soon as possible and said talks were a good thing. Mr Noppadol added that it was interesting to have a mediator to assist in the talks but expressed his disagreement with ending the crisis by creating political vacuum and tearing up the constitution.

All sides should respect people’ decisions expressed through an election, Mr Noppadol said.
