PHICHIT, 16 July 2015 – Phichit is organizing an energy-saving campaign for its provincial governmental sector.
Phichit Provincial Energy Office today held a meeting to inform officials of various government units on methods to lower energy usage and make the most use of it, as a means to save the government’s energy budget.
Deputy Phichit Governor, Mr.Nopparat Tungkittithavorn, presided over the opening of the meeting joined by officials from provincial units who will later pass on the knowledge to their respective organizations. The Deputy Governor had asked for cooperation from officials of all units in helping conserve energy and to switch off electrical appliances once they are not in use, or to use energy only when necessary.
According to statistics on energy-savings in the governmental sector, 7,886 organizations had cooperated in the campaign in the 2014 fiscal year, helping save almost 9,400 units of electricity, worth up to 6.2 billion baht. The campaign calls for a reduction in energy usage of each unit by 10 percent in accordance with the cabinet’s resolution aiming to set an example for the private sector to follow suit while also reducing the dependence on oil imports.
