PHUKET -Police will step up traffic measures in Phuket in an attempt to lower road accidents.
A meeting has been recently held between local authorities and Phuket police over beach management, security and suppression of crimes, human trafficking, and narcotics and efforts to reduce road fatalities.
At the meeting, Phuket Governor Jamroen Thippayapongthada sought police assistance in making sure commuters abide by the traffic regulations to combat a soaring number of road accidents in his province.
The Governor wanted the requirement for motorcyclists to wear a helmet to be strictly enforced. Restaurants and bars would also be prohibited from offering baruku smoking services.
As for beaches, the provincial authorities will develop a beach management plan which will be implemented in 3 districts to keep all beaches organized and orderly.
