PHUKET, Thailand – Phuket province launched its Songkran celebrations today (Apr 12), with events taking place across the island, blending traditional customs with vibrant street festivities. From Old Town to Patong Beach and Mai Khao, the island is drawing both locals and tourists into the Thai New Year spirit through cultural ceremonies, music, and water-based fun.

The day began with a foam party at Tiger Muay Thai in Chalong, attracting early crowds with music and high-energy water play. In Old Phuket Town, celebrations continued with the Songkran Kebaya event at the Chartered Bank Intersection, where participants donned traditional Patéh sarongs for a cultural-themed gathering. The nearby Water Festival 2025, running until April 15, has transformed the historic district into a festive zone filled with activity and community spirit.

Patong Beach remains a major draw for visitors seeking a lively Songkran experience. The Patong Songkran Festival, based at Bangla Square, features open-air street parties and large-scale water fights lasting into the night. For those seeking a more relaxed celebration, Mai Khao is hosting the Phuket Water Festival 2025, with events at the local school, temple, and the Dragon Courtyard in Old Town, offering a family-oriented experience.

The island’s largest entertainment event is the Songkran Carnival at Central Phuket’s Outdoor Arena, running until April 14. Each night features live concerts from top Thai artists, including Retrospect, Getsunova, P-Hot, Pae MVL, and more. Light and sound shows add to the high-energy atmosphere, with concerts beginning at 6:00 p.m. daily.

Officials have reminded revelers to use clean water and avoid substances that could cause skin irritation.
