BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai has dismissed concerns that the investigation into Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s Khao Yai golf course land issue signals a rift within the government. He emphasized that any matter raising public suspicion must be examined, stating, “Being in government does not mean covering up for each other.”
Phumtham reaffirmed that coalition partners can still work together despite the probe, distinguishing the investigation process from governance. He assured that the government remains committed to justice and transparency.
When asked if the timing—just before the upcoming no-confidence debate—might create political tensions, Phumtham downplayed concerns. He stated that as long as those involved can present their case truthfully, the situation would not pose a problem.
Regarding the coalition dinner hosted by the Bhumjaithai Party on February 25, Phumtham dismissed speculation that it would serve as a reconciliation meeting, insisting that there were no issues needing resolution—just the need for clear communication among allies. (TNA)
