BANGKOK, 1 October 2013 – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has told related agencies to closely monitor the influence of Typhoon Wutip, which is expected to trigger another round of heavy raining in Thailand.
Ms. Yingluck on Monday asked the provincial administrations of flood-prone provinces to set up operations centers at spots most likely to be affected by flood, and to foster collaboration among related state agency in assisting flood-afflicted people. Furthermore, every cabinet minister has been asked to visit the current flood-afflicted areas
According to Irrigation Department chief Lertwirot Kowatthana, Typhoon Wutip will lash out on the Northeastern provinces of Nakhon Phanom, Nong Khai, Mukdahan and Udonthani while sparing the provinces of Ubonratchathani and Sisaket.
The Meteorological Department has indicated that Wutip will reach Nakhon Phanom on Tuesday, after making landfall in Vietnam.
