Buriram – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has told the people of Buriram that he hopes to see their provincial capital be developed as a sports city.

The PM on Monday met with around 30,000 Buriram residents at the Chang Arena Stadium in Mueang district. He said Buriram is a city of culture and people in the province live together peacefully, setting a good example for society. However, the premier expressed his concerns over the province’s low per capita income and suggested the local people use technology with marketing and e-commerce to better sell their agricultural produce.

Buriram has changed for the better in terms of economy, tourism and sports, the PM said. The province could be developed as a sports city with a national sports university and medical center, he said.

Buriram has been chosen to host the MotoGP motorcycle racing events for three consecutive years from 2018 – 2020. The province has an important policy to develop its sports tourism.
