PM briefed on Thailand preparation for AEC

BANGKOK, 8 May 2015 – Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has been briefed on Thailand’s preparation to be part of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) today.

Prime Minister Prayut has been briefed on the progress made in 3 major areas, including politics, economy and culture. It has been reported that 90% of the preparation for the AEC has been completed.

The Prime Minister has instructed Deputy Prime Ministers to follow up on the progress of the preparation in the areas of their responsibilities and to closely monitor anti-drug and human trafficking efforts during the transition period.

Thailand is expected to come up with a ten-point vision before the regional integration takes shape at the end of this year. Thai citizens must also be informed of the benefits they stand to derive from the AEC.
