Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has expressed his elation after Thailand secured three medals on a single day at the 2024 Olympic Games.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister lauded the achievements of taekwondo athlete Panipak Wongpattanakit, weightlifters Theerapong Silachai, and Surodchana Kambao.

Panipak, nicknamed “Tennis,” defended her Olympic gold medal in the women’s 49kg taekwondo category, defeating a Chinese opponent. Her victory on her birthday made it an even more special occasion. “Tennis has filled the hearts of Thais with joy once again,” Prime Minister Srettha said.

Theerapong claimed the silver medal in the men’s 61kg weightlifting category, marking an impressive debut at the Olympics for the 20-year-old. Meanwhile, Surodchana won the bronze medal in the women’s 49kg weightlifting category, demonstrating exceptional strength by lifting a remarkable 200 kilograms.

“This is truly a historic day for Thailand,” the Prime Minister stated. “To win three medals in a single day is an extraordinary accomplishment. I congratulate all our athletes. Each medal is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the pride of our nation.” (TNA)
