CHIANG MAI, 26 Dec 2013 – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has stressed that the government-proposed National Reform Council will be the most neutral forum for all sides while repeating her invitation to the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) to join the council.
The Prime Minister’s comment came after the PDRC had showed no interest in the council believing it was a government attempt to retain power. The Prime Minister said however that the council, comprising representatives from all sectors, would find the most acceptable solution for all.
She said the government would continue persuading more knowledgeable people to join the council, including PDRC representatives.
Asked for her comment on the looming failure in the registration of electoral candidates which is opening for two more days, Ms. Yingluck stated that she has not yet discussed the matter with the Election Commission and would leave the commissioners to decide on their next move.
When asked about her opinion on the PDRC’s move to lead demonstrators to her residence in Bangkok, the Prime Minister brushed aside the subject by simply replying she was currently in Chiang Mai.
