BANGKOK, 4 June 2015  – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha and his cabinet members are eyeing Chiang Mai as the venue for an upcoming mobile cabinet meeting set for late this month.

According to PM Prayut, the main objectives of his visit to the northern province are to meet local people to listen to their problems and needs and observe the progress of development programs. Asked why Chiang Mai was chosen, Gen Prayut explained that his cabinet members focused their visit on major cities, as they were the centers of economic activities, such as trade, tourism and agriculture.

In March, the premier and his cabinet members called a mobile meeting in the seaside province Prachuap Khiri Khan where he was updated on the city clean-up project by the provincial governor. He also took the opportunity to meet local vendors at a community market to collect their suggestions.

The upcoming trip to Chiang Mai will be the third one for Gen Prayut as the leader of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO). The Prime Minister added that he would try to travel more to different parts of the country to observe the living condition of residents and discuss development plans with local officials.
