PM Gen. Prayut has ordered extension of social security registration for elderly

BANGKOK, 9 December 2014 – The Prime Minister has ordered an extension of the social security registration deadline for those aged above 60 years. 

Secretary-General of the Social Security Office Pranin Muttaharach said that after the end of the registration process on December 8, there remained a lot of people who wished to register themselves but have not done so.

Ms. Pranin said that, accordingly, Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha has asked the Ministry of Labor to amend the Royal Decree related to the criteria and the conditions for the registration for citizens who are older than 60 years and have not registered themselves yet.

She added that the SSO has already discussed with the legal department and come to a conclusion that the registration will be extended by 10 days after the amendment of the decree, which is expected to be completed before the end of the year.
