BANGKOK, 20 January 2014 Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has called on the anti-government People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) to allow authorities to provide security in the rally sites and expressed the government’s readiness to compensate victims of violence during the protests.

The PM on Monday expressed concerns over the rallies and condolences to the victims. She said the government did not want to see violence and condemned those responsible for it.

The premier stated further that she had asked police officers to urgently investigate the incidents and find the culprits. Ms Yingluck also suggested the protesters allow police and military officers to enter the rally sites to safeguard them.

The deaths and the injuried would be compensated but the government must consult with the Election Commission first, said the premier.
