BANGKOK, Nov 5 — Prime Minister Gen Prayuth Chan-o-cha said he has no plans to participate in tomorrow’s Loy Krathong Festival but he asks the public to be cautious during the festivities.
The Thai premier and National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) head told the press that he has planned nothing for tomorrow’s Loy Krathong Festival. He said he has no need to float away any sadness as he is already content and happy with his life.
However, the prime minister has asked for cooperation from the public in being more cautious when using fireworks, firecrackers, and floating lanterns, particularly the latter.
He said authorities were able to limit the areas where lanterns could be floated before, but now the activity has become so popular that many people participate.
Anyone planning to float the lanterns should be mindful of the affects they could have on aviation traffic, as the lanterns could obstruct pilots’ sight.
