PM lauds King and Princess Mother’s contributionsBANGKOK,(NNT) – The Prime Minister has praised the teachings of HM the King of Thailand and the late Princess Mother.

In his weekly national televised address, Prime Minister and chief of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha called on all citizens to commemorate His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and HRH the late Princess Srinagarindra or the Princess Mother for their contributions to Thai society and the teachings they left behind.

The PM said that the success of the Doi Tung Development Project, in Mae Fah Luang, Chiang Rai province is a great example of the 30 long years of their continuous contribution to tribal villages in the north.

The Doi Tung project brought about development, higher living standards, and education to the hill tribe people while at the same time eradicating slash and burn practices and opium cultivation.

The prime minister also stressed the importance of education, saying education is equal to a long-lasting career and allows people to support themselves and their families.

Through his reign, HM the King initiated more than 4,000 development projects, one of which was distance learning.
