Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has facilitated continued investment from seven major automotive companies, tabling Thailand’s strategic push towards becoming a key player in the global automotive market, especially in the production of electric vehicles (EVs).
During the ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit for the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation, Srettha engaged in productive discussions with representatives from Suzuki, Mazda, Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, and Toyota. During the meetings, the Premier affirmed Thailand’s commitment to maintaining its position as an attractive investment destination for international automotive giants.
Meeting participants were informed of Thailand’s focus on accelerating the transition towards electric vehicles, which aligns with the country’s environmental goals and its ambition to be a leader in EV technology.
Srettha also used the opportunity to highlight the Thai government’s efforts to foster a favorable investment environment. This includes addressing potential trade barriers and responding to these companies’ concerns, aiming to strengthen their ongoing or increased investment commitments in Thailand. (NNT)
