BANGKOK, 5 June 2013 Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra met with President and CEO of Norway’s Telenor Group Jon Fredrik Baksaas at Government House on Wednesday, with talks on the company’s collaborations with the Thai government dominating the meeting.
According to Government Spokesman Teerat Ratanasevi, the meeting between Ms Yingluck and Mr Baksaas was mainly focused on investment projects of Total Access Communication Plc (DTAC), which is a subsidiary of Telenor. Both parties discussed the network operator’s high-speed internet projects and assistive communication technology in the country’s elderly care.
The meeting also looked into a future collaborative project concerning a mobile application that can be used to enhance ASEAN connectivity ahead of the formation of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015.
Earlier this year, DTAC launched a pilot project titled “DTAC Free WiFi” to support the government’s “ICT Free WiFi” and “One Tablet Per Child” projects, initiated by the Information and Communication Technology Ministry.
