Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has instructed the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to step up efforts to promote Song Wat, a historic trading quarter in Bangkok, as a premier tourism destination. During his Sunday visit, where he interacted with young entrepreneurs on Song Wat Road, Srettha highlighted the area’s tourism potential in a post on his X social media account.



Situated in Bangkok’s old city district, Song Wat is characterized by its unique heritage buildings, which innovative young entrepreneurs have repurposed into trendy restaurants, cafés, and art galleries.

Emphasizing the need for a robust public relations plan from the TAT and BMA to elevate the area’s profile further, Srettha called for enhancements to public utilities and safety infrastructure to support the influx of tourists.



Following his visit to the Song Wat area, the premier traveled to the Bon Kai community in Klong Toey district to discuss inadequate living conditions, flooding, and economic challenges with the residents. During a meeting, Srettha suggested transforming Bon Kai into a model community and underscored the necessity for governmental intervention to facilitate its improvement. (NNT)
