BANGKOK, 24 September 2013 Prime Minister and Defense Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, the first woman to lead this country, is keen on eradicating child and woman abuses in the society.
Miss Yingluck has met with officials from the Office of the Attorney General who gave her a tour through an exhibition organized to show that child and woman abuses still exist in the Thai society. The PM said the government would do whatever it took to protect the rights of all children and women and a network will be set up to help achieve the goal.
According to Miss Yingluck, violence among women and children is the number one problem the government needs to address, adding that there will not be equality in the society as long as violence continues. The government has, therefore, set up the One-Stop Crisis Center (OSCC) and the Woman Fund to help those in need or when they fall prey to abusers.
The exhibition has also been organized in honor of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol, who has been the forefront of the campaign to help fight against child and woman abuses in Thailand.
