PM Prayut hands financial assistance to Korat shooting victims

NAKHON RATCHASIMA – The Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, and a group of officials have arrived in Nakhon Ratchasima to present remedial payments to the injured and the families of those killed in a mass shooting in the northeastern province on February 8 and 9, 2020.



The Prime Minister and the officials today paid homage to the Thao Suranaree Monument, a memorial to a popular heroine of Nakhon Ratchasima, on Ratchadamnoen Road in Muang Nakhon Ratchasima district. The Prime Minister then proceeded to the Prem Tinsulanonda Auditorium at the Nakhon Ratchasima City Hall to distribute the financial aid, from the Prime Minister’s Office Disaster Relief Fund, to 27 family members of those killed in the attack and 57 of those injured.

The families of the 27 people killed received 1 million baht each. The government presented 200,000 baht to each of the seriously injured and 100,000 baht to the slightly injured.

The Prime Minister met with the victims and offered them moral support. He also offered his condolences to the families and thanked all Thai people for their assistance and contributions. Gen. Prayut said he would like the bereaved families and the injured to use the remedial payments to help them overcome the recent tragedy.

The Prime Minister and the officials also visited Terminal 21 in Nakhon Ratchasima to offer moral support to the people working at the shopping mall. Shops on all floors of Terminal 21 are now open to the public again.
