BANGKOK, 16 September 2014 – Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha presided over the first official cabinet meeting today at Government House.
During the meeting, General Prayuth said an investigation has been launched over the controversial state purchase of allegedly overpriced conference room microphones at the Government House. All new microphones have been removed from conference rooms pending the conclusion of the probe.
He also made known that the martial law will not be lifted in the near future but his cabinet has prepared to outline a new law to be enforced in place of martial law. A number of factors including movement of political groups need to be considered before martial law can be revoked.
The premier began working from his official office at Government House yesterday, after delivering his government’s policy statement to the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) last week.
