BANGKOK, 1 July 2013 Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is scheduled to visit Poland and Turkey from July 3-5 in a bid to open new markets for Thai exports.
The Thai premier’s three-day official visit follows invitations from the Polish and Turkish governments.
Ms Yingluck will hold bilateral talks with her Polish counterpart Donald Tusk and both parties are expected to sign memorandums of understanding on a variety of cooperation projects. She is slated to meet members of the Thai community in the central European country and to observe Poland’s historic preservation model.
The premier will proceed to have a meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The visit is aimed at promoting bilateral cooperation in both the government and private sectors in areas including food, energy, the green economy, tourism and automobiles.
According to Turkey’s official trade figures, its exports to Thailand were worth 243.8 million US dollars or 7.54 billion baht last year. Thailand’s exports to Turkey, worth 1.08 billion dollars, mostly consisted of cars and parts, granular plastic and natural rubber.
Ms Yingluck is expected to depart Istanbul on Friday to return to Thailand.
